Cultural Tours Fall 2009 – Istanbul-Edirne–Canakkale
9 10 2009After breakfast, check out and depart via private bus to Edirne, the second capital of the Ottoman Empire. Our walking tour will include masterpieces of Turkish architecture, the Selimiye Mosque and Sultan II. Bayezid Health Museum, was recognized as the best European Museum in 2004 by the European Union. This historical health complex is best known for using alternative medicine, such as the use of music for therapeutic purposes. A private musical performance will introduce the “Ney,” a traditional Turkish music instrument. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Edirne featuring traditional local dishes. Continue on to Canakkale. We will visit the Anzac Cove, 57th Infantry Regiment Cemetery and Memorial, Chunuk Bair, Çanakkale Martyrs Memorial and the Lone Pine Cemetery & Memorial.
