Cultural Tours Fall 2009 - Istanbul
7 10 2009After breakfast, depart for a full day Istanbul tour. Our tour will start a presentation on exquisite textiles, carpets, kilims and other weavings follows at the renowned Mehmet Çetinkaya Gallery.
We will then visit the Grand Bazaar [
15th Century]. Continue with the Istanbul Archeological Museum and the Topkapi Palace. On a finger of land at the confluence of the Bosphorus, the Golden Horn and the Sea of Marmara stands the Topkapi Palace, that maze of buildings which was the focal point of the Ottoman Empire between the 15th and 19th centuries in these opulent surroundings, the sultans and their court lived and governed. During the tour, lunch will be served at Konyali Restaurant, which is located inside the Palace overlooking the marvelous Bosphorus. In the afternoon, we will visit the Dolmabahce Palace [19th Century], the later residence and seat of government of the Ottoman dynasty.
Dinner hosted by Bayraktarlar and overnight in Istanbul.
